After suffering a concussion in week 8 and having to pass the leauge’s concussion impact test to be cleared to play, to making a huge impact in Sunday’s win over the Oakland Raiders, Nick Foles made a statement against Oakland’s ninth rated defense
Shortly after Nick Foles threw his fifth touchdown pass of the day, a 25-yard screen pass to LeSean McCoy, Foles found himself receiving all the atta-boys a guy could ask for from his teammates and coaches on the sideline. After the Philadelphia Eagles failed to score a touchdown the past two games Foles put on a brilliant display against Oakland on Sunday afternoon.
Foles knew he needed to have a good game to build his confidence up after a tough week of injuries. He understood the confidence in the locker room was fading, both as a team and in himself.
And Foles was the first to admit it earlier in the week simply saying “it was tough”.
Foles was 22 of 28 for 406 yards and an astounding seven touchdowns in just his ninth start of his young career. His performance was worthy of becoming the Eagles franchise record holder for passing TD’s in a game and ties an NFL record. He joins a list of talented QB’s, former and current, to throw seven touchdowns in a game which should help his confidence. Foles hit five different receivers for touchdowns which will help boost his teammates confidence in him to get everyone involved.
DeSean Jackson: 5 receptions, 150 yards, 1 TD
Riley Cooper: 5 receptions, 139 yards, 3 TD’s
Zack Ertz: 5 receptions, 42 yards, 1 TD
LeSean McCoy: 4 receptions, 36 yards, 1 TD. McCoy also had 44 rushing yards on 12 carries but did not score a rushing TD.
Brent Celek: 3 receptions, 27 yards, 1 TD
Here’s the list of those quarterbacks who have thrown seven TD’s in a game that Foles now joins.
